Ms. Huber and her students are practicing for the upcoming Indigenous Divisional Hand Games tournament on Friday May 3rd at the Grimshaw Multiplex Field house. Hand Games are a traditional First Nations game involving hiding and guessing. Players use gestures and movements with rocks, and blankets to distract their opponents. The winner is determined by a points system, kept track of with sticks. The Hand Games Tournament is always a great day for students and parents are welcome to attend! Grand entry of teams starts at 10:30 a.m.

Holy Family Jr. High students are planning a trip to Edmonton on March 21st /22nd to watch the Oilers! We are asking for help for this trip for our students. The bottle depot in Grimshaw will be accepting bottle donations for us. If you are able to donate please bring your bottles, cans, plastic containers to the bottle depot and say it’s for Holy Family School. Thank you for your support! The donation will help cover the tickets, hotels and travel expenses for the students!

The grade 1 class is having a cupcake sale on Wednesday, December 6th at lunch. The money raised will go to purchase items for the seniors’ Secret Santa to put into bags for our local seniors. Cupcakes will be $1.00 each. We are also collecting donations of items to put directly into the gift bags such as: hand creams, body wash, lip balm, chocolates, Christmas ornaments, hats, mitts, etc. All donations must be in by December 8th.

Hosts for Students From France Ombrosa School is a non-profit, K-12, multilingual private school based in Lyon (France). Ombrosa wishes to provide its students the opportunity to experience life abroad, not only to improve their language skills, but also to gain maturity and develop friendships that often last throughout the years. As part of their curriculum, students travel to different countries. Ombrosa School is currently looking for host families in the Peace River area. Students would be twinned with Holy Family students and would attend school with them. A financial contribution is given to the Canadian hosts ($500). This is to help with the cost of food, transport, activities and day trips. This year’s visit will take place in late April/early May 2024. Families of students in grades 6-10 who are interested in hosting students from France can contact Mr. Randall for more information at scott.randall@hfcrd.ab.ca.
